Plan of shoots

I have finally planned and decided on shoots after doing plenty of research and have decided on the fashion/beauty side of magazine work. By taking inspiration from famous photographers for example David LaChapelle, Tom Oldham and Craig McDean. I hope to include elements of their work in mine. I plan to shoot in the studio with the use of flash lighting to try and achieve the same style as some fashion magazines that I am interested in for example, i-D and Dazed&confused. Which leads me in to an indea for a final shoot. I hope to produce a magazine cover and maybe an article about the front cover. I have decided to work on i-D magazine as I am interested in it and it is more original and alternative compared to regular fashion magazines. I think i-D magazine focuses on a younger age group.

Shoot 1 plan

I will use this shoot as an insight in to photoshop. I will provide screen grabs to show my work in the editing process, before and after post production. Practicing with working in the studio to help me before I move on to other shoots. In this shoot I will be photographing clothes made by the fashion course which will give me the feel of what it is like working for a real fashion magazine. This will help me to be professional in my shoots to come for this project.

Shoot 2 plan

With this shoot I am planning on experimenting with different kinds of lighting to help me on deciding which is my preferred lighting and what I will use for my final shoots. I hope to have both male and females modelling for me in this shoot to practice with a different range. In addition I will experiment with different contrasting angles and poses which will also help me on ideas for my shoots to come. I will hopefully be working with different extentions including beauty dishes, soft boxes snoots and beauty umbrellas.

Risk Assessment

-Making sure no eating and drinking in cove.

-Making sure models are happy and comfortable.

-Making sure lights are off when not needed.

-Making sure cables and other objects are out of the way.

Shoot 3 plan

For this shoot I am planning on doing a shoot based around my idea for a final shoot. I want to use my friend Nayana as the model as she has such a unique and 'out there' style which is exactly what I am looking for. I have not yet decided on what lighting to use for this shoot but I do have a couple of ideas in mind- maybe a beauty dish or softbox. I will experiment with angles and poses and take inspiration from my outcome of my previous shoot and combine it to get well composed and styled images. I plan to use this as a practice for my final shoot but I will not style it exactly how I plan to for the magazine cover. I am going to take inspiration from photographers Tom Oldham and Terry Richardson for this shoot and hopefully use one of my favourite images as a practice of a magazine cover.

Final Shoot plan

My plan for my final shoot is to do a magazine cover for i-D's music issue. I hope to have my friend Nayana to model for me because her style is the look I am aiming for. My idea and concept for this shoot is of Nayana as an up and coming music artist with a street and urban style to her. I plan to do an inside article where I hope to incude a few of my images and different typography skills that I have learnt on photoshop. This will be a better and extended version of shoot 3 however I will take inspiration from David LaChapelle's crazy and bold work as well as Tom Oldham and Terry Richardson.
